When Michel from Talleres del Río Piedra, the official distributor of Solé Diesel in the Cantabrian area, told us about this project, we were especially excited about its philosophy and mission.
The Naumon is a 62-metre long cargo ship built in 1979 that is currently used as a travelling stage. The project is led by the well-known company La Fura dels Baus and aims to bring a wide variety of shows to ports around the world.
The hallmark of La Naumon is sustainability, as it includes a Bound4blue rigid sail as a new feature; this provides a wind propulsion system complementary to the engine that offers high thrust, achieving significant fuel savings and reduced emissions.
For the generation of electrical energy, which is essential for supplying on-board consumers, a 68 kVA 68 GT generator (certified with Type Approval by DNV, an international member of IACS) was chosen. This certification guarantees that the group complies with international quality and safety standards, while offering the highest performance.
Some technical features included in the standard equipment that differentiate Type Approval-certified sets from standard generators are: a TAC-certified alternator, a TAC engine control and monitoring system, hot surface insulation according to TAC standards, belt protection, spray-stop protection on pipe connections containing flammable liquids, double-walled diesel oil pipes, a double diesel oil filter, rubber hoses with internal textile reinforcement, double clamps, mechanical connections, threaded joints, and a general ground insulation installation with which the device is supplied as standard.
This is undoubtedly an excellent marine generator to satisfy all on-board requirements.
We’d like to thank all the professionals who have worked on this project and wish many hours of sailing and entertainment to La Naumon and her crew.
