R&D flexible coupling for Marine Engine
Flexible Coupling
Flexible couplings are made of hard but elastic polyurethane and are able to withstand any temporary engine/shaft misalignment. It is provided with the bolts and nuts needed for installation. (FC = power hp x 100 rpm on shaft). SELECTION EXAMPLE P' = Engine Power = 40 CV N = maximum engine rpm = 3000 rpm R = Gearbox reduction ratio = 2:1 = 2 N' = Shaft Revolutions = N/R = 3000/2 = 1500 rpm P = Coupling Permissible Power P=(N'/100)x f --> P>P' Our engine has an SMI-R3 (ØD=63.5) gearbox, so we look in the catalogue for a coupling that fits the gearbox flange's. We choose the 40025100 and determine its admissible power P. P = (1500/100)x3 = 45CV > 40CV --> CORRECT Note: If it is assembled with the TM-93 gearbox, it is necessary to add the reference 40040101 to mount it.
