The Solé technical training season has ended with great success and a high level of attendance.

Professionals of the national and international technical service network have participated in the 2022-2023 technical training courses held in Solé during the months of October to March.

It is with great satisfaction and pride that we share this news, which is also intended as a thank you to all the technicians and mechanics who passed through our facilities this season to benefit from the technical training.

How were the first training days on marine engine maintenance?

From the beginning in October 2022 to the last sessions in March 2023, we have been able to share, with numerous groups of professionals, a wide range of technical knowledge related to Solé marine diesel engines and generator sets, suitable for any type of vessel and application.

The training programme began in October 2022, with the first training session dedicated to engines and propulsion line. The first group was made up of professionals from various parts of Spain who were able to see key aspects of the engine first hand, such as its morphology and most important parts, the customisation kits installed on the engine to add optional features, the various control panels and how they work, as well as the many performance-enhancing packs and peripherals that can be added to the installation.

They also addressed issues relating to after-sales interventions, the management of warranties and the certifications available for the equipment.

We continue with the sessions dedicated to generator sets.

Over the months that followed, several more invitations were made in order to receive the large number of professionals interested, also from numerous international service points, such as the Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, France, the Faroe Islands, Poland, Malta, Thailand and Turkey. All of them had 100% attendance, which translates into a strong and highly qualified service network, capable of carrying out any type of repair, with up-to-date knowledge and extensive practical experience.

In addition to the training sessions dedicated to propulsion engines, corresponding generator set training sessions were also held, covering such relevant topics as the composition of the equipment, the role played by its components, the optional kits that can be installed to obtain more functions, the generator set panels and the accessory packs. As an important point, the characteristics of generators prepared to work in parallel were also discussed and the Type Approval certifications were explained, as well as the work that can be carried out on such equipment.

All training sessions were structured with theoretical and practical elements, which took place on the test bench and in different areas of the production plant, so that professionals could share their experiences and discuss any concerns with Solé's after-sales staff.

We can see in the pictures how enjoyable these practical sessions are, which are undoubtedly very useful in their application to the day-to-day running of the workshops.

But it wasn't all work. We also had time to relax during breaks, lunch outings and group dinners, during which we could chat and share anecdotes, as well as get to know the new members.

Solé would also like to say thank you for the enormous welcome the training programme received in Galicia, a key area for commercial shipping and fishing. Our colleagues Roger Martín and Marçal Castells, from the technical and commercial departments, travelled there to conduct the training week at the facilities of Álvarez Riveira, official distributor for northwestern Spain.

From 16 to 20 January, Álvarez Riveira brought together its large network of workshops and branches, strategically distributed throughout Galicia and Asturias, for this special event where the training programme consisted of both theoretical and practical content, and where all kinds of queries could be answered.

The feedback we received from those who attended, as well as from the friends who make up the Álvarez Riveira team, was very positive and this greatly encourages us to work towards next year’s forthcoming events, either at our facilities or on site at the delegations on demand.

We invite you to read this article written by Álvarez Riveira in his blog.

Finally, to conclude the training season, all the participants successfully completed the training programme and now have their official certificate accrediting them as qualified and authorised professionals to work on Solé Diesel engines and generating sets.
